Hi, welcome to my blog!
For those of who don’t know me: I’m a plastic Londoner who’s recently moved from Leeds and is a little too excited about all things food and drink (and London – hence ‘Big Day Out’). I’ve just finished studying my undergrad at Oxford, and I’m now completing postgrad legal studies in London – as such, my ability to tour the finest restaurants is somewhat limited by the shackles of student budgeting, but if there’s one thing worthy of extending my overdraft for: it’s food!
On the note of student budgeting, my target is for most of the reviewed meals to come in at under £25 per head (unless we were feeling greedy or it was a really good deal for a fancy place!) That may not sound particularly cheap, but for very good food in London, I think it (all being well) is good value, and I think it’s an amount that most students could scrape together every couple of weeks (even if it means sacrificing something else – I eat pretty cheap food at home, for instance).
So, in essence, I’ve started this blog for two main reasons:
- To have somewhere to vent about my foodie exploits, meaning that my friends might get a little less sick of having to hear about them directly!
- To show that students in London can still afford to have great food if they search for it.
I hope you like what you read – get in touch if you’ve any feedback or if there’s somewhere you think I should pay a visit to.
